AN ORIGINAL REDUCTION LINO CUT - "ALONG THE WATER'S EDGE" 2/9
PROFESSIONALLY FINISHED AND FRAMED IN NATURAL SOLID OAK
Reduction lino cut is a method of relief printing in which each layer of colour is printed from a single block.
As each print is built up more and more of the lino is cut from the block. Each colour is then printed on top of the previous one, the printable area of the block being reduced with each colour, usually working from the very lightest colours through to the darkest. Most prints have around 8 layers of colour.
Every piece is hand printed using a fabulous upcycled 1920's mangle.
Each design is a unique piece of art, and the prints - because they are individually hand printed - each have a subtle differences.
Each edition of prints is small - usually no more than 12 of each print and often only 5.
Vegetable oil based inks and also water-based inks are used, which gives a fabulous depth of colour and also means that the cleaning of tools and blocks can be done without using harmful solvents.
We support our local art shop originally established 34 years ago to have our art work professionally framed, so you can hang your chosen piece straight to its required home.
Each piece will arrive in a purpose made wooden box from FSC sustainable wood and will arrive fixed closed with screws to ensure the safest way to transport.
